| Abstract: This keynote for the Software Development 2001 conference examines the range of software development methods--from "heavyweights" like the Rational Unified Process to "lightweights" such as extreme programming--in relation to the issue of software usability and user interface design. The limitations of extreme programming and other emerging "agile" methods are reviewed. An agile adaptation of usage-centered design is proposed as a complement to agile development methods. | |
| Keywords: usability inspections, reviews, structured walkthroughs, usability testing, usability defects | |
